"Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow"

Consistorymen

[Here is a brief bit from Dirck Storm, writing in 1715, in explaining the offices which make up this listing: "In the Reformed Churches, Elders and Deacons were always elected and served for a term of years, usually two. At the end of their terms they might be re-elected, but were usually supersededby other men, chosen in their places." These men were described as ordained to their service, and at the end of their term, they were to submit an accounting of their receipts and expenditures.]
